Overview
Yamunotri, the sacred seat of the river goddess Yamuna, is the first stop of the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. Located at an altitude of 3,293 meters (10,804 ft) in the Garhwal Himalayas, the shrine is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and lush valleys.
The temple, built in honor of Goddess Yamuna, is believed to wash away sins and protect devotees from untimely death. The journey to Yamunotri combines spirituality with adventure, as pilgrims trek through forests, waterfalls, and scenic mountain trails.
Short Itinerary (3N/4D)
Day 1: Arrival in Haridwar/Rishikesh – Drive to Barkot
Day 2: Drive to Jankichatti – Trek to Yamunotri – Return to Barkot
Day 3: Buffer/Leisure day at Barkot or explore nearby villages
Day 4: Drive back to Haridwar/Rishikesh – Departure
Detailed Itinerary

- Pickup from Haridwar/Rishikesh.
- Scenic drive along the Yamuna and Tons rivers, passing Mussoorie (optional halt at Kempty Falls).
- Arrival in Barkot by evening. Overnight stay in hotel/camp.

- Morning drive to Jankichatti (base point).
- Begin the 5 km trek to Yamunotri Temple. Options: on foot, pony, or palki.
- Darshan at Yamunotri Temple, visit Surya Kund (hot water spring) and Divya Shila before entering temple.
- Trek back to Jankichatti and return to Barkot.
- Overnight stay.

- Rest day or explore nearby villages & landscapes.
- Ideal for adjusting before further Char Dham travel.
- Overnight stay
- Drive back to Haridwar/Rishikesh.
- Trip concludes with blessings of Goddess Yamuna.
