Overview
Nag Tibba, also called the “Serpent’s Peak”, is the highest peak in the lower Himalayas of Garhwal region. It is a perfect short weekend trek from Delhi and Dehradun. The trek is easy, full of dense forests, meadows, and ends with a wide view of snow-capped peaks like Bandarpoonch, Kedarnath, and Gangotri. Because it can be done in just 2 days, it’s one of the best beginner treks in Uttarakhand.
Short Itinerary – (2 Days / 1 Nights)
Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Pantwari, trek to Nag Tibba Base Camp
Day 2: Trek from Base Camp to Nag Tibba Summit, return to Pantwari and drive back to Dehradun
Detailed Itinerary
- Morning drive from Dehradun to Pantwari village (about 90 km / 3–4 hrs).
- From Pantwari, start the trek towards Nag Tibba base camp.
- The trail goes through small villages, farmlands, and oak & rhododendron forests.
- Reach the base camp by evening, settle in tents, enjoy hot dinner under the stars.
- Overnight stay in tents.
- Early morning start for the summit.
- Steep climb through forest and then open ridge leading to Nag Tibba top (9,915 ft).
- From the summit, see wide views of snow peaks like Bandarpoonch, Kedarnath, and Gangotri.
- Spend some time at the top, then descend back to base camp and Pantwari village.
- Drive back to Dehradun by evening.
